The traditional Japanese art of origami has a new application - creating cosy homes for dogs and cats - thanks to Tokyo and Paris based apparel brand TENEO.
The firm has partnered with design and events marketing company, Nouvelle Vague and Professor Jun Mitani, who belongs to the University of Tsukuba Graduate School, which promotes origami to the world, to ensure the homes keep pets in comfort while retaining the beauty of the origami structure.
They have launched a crowdfunding project on the Japanese product platform Makuake with the aim of making their first general sales in December.

La classifica dei gatti più intelligenti del mondo![- NAIROBI, KENYA: Elephants live socially complex, family-oriented lives and every orphan has their own unique personality and characteristics. The keepers encourage natural social dynamics to play out among the babies in their newly formed herd all the while filling in when needed as a guiding presence, peace-makers and rule enforcers. THESE IMAGES of humans bottle feeding and playing with baby elephants who have been orphaned by poaching are sure to melt your heart. The heart-warming series of pictures captured how staff at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi, Kenya, dedicate their lives to hand rearing young elephants - from sleeping next to them in the same enclosure at night, to bottle feeding them to encourage bonding. Another image showed the inquisitive infant elephants, which will grow to between 5,000 to 14,000-pounds, playing with an umbrella whilst another showed them exploring the vegetation and trees of their surroundings. Elephants are extremely family orientated creatures and infants never stray further than 32-feet away from their mother or family members. The caretakers at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust provide around the clock care to emulate the same love and bond the elephant would have with its family in the wild. The stunning pictures were taken in Nairobi, Kenya, by wildlife photographer Justin Mott (42) from Smithfield, Rhode Island, USA and form part of his Kindred Guardians series which shines a light on humans who dedicate their lives to wildlife conservation. Justin was lucky enough to spend three days with the elephants and caretakers at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust ? an experience which he describes as ?magical?.

A baby elephant at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo has enjoyed her first taste of Christmas after keepers created a woody winter wonderland for the youngster to explore – officially beginning the countdown to Christmas at the UK’s largest zoo.
Three-month-old endangered Asian elephant Nang Phaya was treated to a 20-foot-high forest of Christmas trees to explore, play with and snack on - with mum Donna, grandma Kaylee and the rest of her herd joining in the festive fun, kindly donated by The Christmas Tree Place, Berkhamsted.
Nang Phaya and her herd spared no time diving into their surprise, with the older members of the herd leading the way. The curious infant initially approached the new trees with some caution, but soon followed her family’s lead, exploring the sensations of the prickly branches under her feet and with her trunk.
The Christmas treat was also filmed as part of Channel 4’s “London Zoo at Christmas”, a family, festive special following zookeepers at London and Whipsnade Zoos as they prepare for Christmas - airing on Friday 16 December.
Playful young calf Nang Phaya was born in August 2022 and named the Thai word for ‘queen’ after HM Queen Elizabeth II, who famously fed her mum Donna a banana during a 2017 visit to the Zoo.
Asian elephants are classified as Endangered by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and recent estimates suggest that as few as 7000 are left in South-East Asia. International conservation charity ZSL works in Thailand, Nepal, Cameroon and West Africa to protect elephants and help people living alongside them thrive.
