IL NUOVO OBIETTIVO NASA
- Le future missioni spaziali dirette alla Luna, così come la stazione spaziale cislunare e la base lunare, dovranno regolare il tempo su un nuovo standard: è questo l'incarico che la Casa Bianca, attraverso il suo ufficio per la Politica scientifica e tecnologica (Ostp), ha dato alla Nasa, nel documento sulla "Standardizzazione del tempo celeste a sostegno della strategia nazionale per la scienza e la tecnologia cislunare"

- L'obiettivo è avere entro la fine del 2026 il nuovo standard, che si chiamerà "Coordinated Lunar Time" (Ltc) e sarà basato sul Coordinated Universal Time (Utc) della Terra, adattato alle operazioni sulla Luna

PERCHÉ È DIFFICILE STABILIRE L'ORA LUNARE
- Utilizzare l'Utc sulla Luna non è infatti possibile in quanto è una misura del tempo legata ai sistemi terrestri. A causa della teoria della relatività generale e speciale, si legge nel documento, "la lunghezza di un secondo definita sulla Terra apparirà distorta a un osservatore in condizioni gravitazionali diverse o a un osservatore che si muove su un'alta velocità relativa. Per esempio, a un osservatore sulla Luna, un orologio terrestre sembrerà perdere in media 58,7 microsecondi, con ulteriori variazioni periodiche"

LA NASA VUOLE TORNARE SULLA LUNA ENTRO IL 2025
- Lo scorso gennaio, la Nasa ha annunciato la pianificazione del suo primo atterraggio lunare con astronauti per il 2025, segnando il ritorno dell'uomo sulla Luna dopo la conclusione del programma Apollo negli anni '70. Allo stesso tempo, la Cina ha fissato l'obiettivo di inviare i suoi primi astronauti sulla Luna entro il 2030.
