Climate change, deforestation, and urbanization are some of the major risk factors behind the increasing number of outbreaks of viruses such as dengue, Zika, and chikungunya around the world, warns a study by the World Health Organization. The study says the incidence of infections caused by these mosquito-borne illnesses, which thrive in tropical and subtropical climates, has grown dramatically in recent decades. The report says cases of dengue have increased from just over half a million globally in 2000 to 5.2 million in 2019. In Italia si sono già registrati focolai in passato, soprattutto nell'estate 2022 e, con l'aumentare delle temperature, rischiano di diffondersi ancora di più. Ma accanto a questi si stanno facendo avanti prepotentemente anche il virus di Marburg, diffuso soprattutto tra Tanzania e Guinea Equatoriale, per cui l'OMS ha già segnalato il rischio di nuova pandemia, e l'influenza Aviaria, con casi in Brasile, Cile, Equador e Cina
