Da sempre la voce di Rain On Me, tornata da poco sulla scena discografica con lo straordinario album Chromatica, si è schierata a supporto delle minoranze combattendo in prima linea per i diritti civili.
Se nelle scorse ore la cantante ha regalato un discorso emozionante in occasione dell’evento Dear Class of 2020, quasi dieci annifa Lady Gaga ha portato l’attenzione su una tematica ancora oggi molto importante grazie a uno dei brani più famosi, celebri, amati e iconici nella storia del pop contemporaneo.
La canzone, esplosiva nel testo e nell’arrangiamento, è un invito a celebrare le differenze, a vivere la vita per come siamo, a lottare per affermare i nostri diritti, a non nasconderci per colpa dei giudizi degli altri, a rispettare la nostra persona e a non aver paura di amare chi vogliamo. La cantante sottolinea in modo forte e deciso la necessità di rispettare i nostri sentimenti e di credere in noi stessi: “Give yourself prudence / And love your friends / So we can rejoice your truth / In the religion of the insecure / I must be myself, respect my youth”.
Prima dell’arrivo dell’ultimo ritornello, Lady Gaga regala un vero e proprio manifesto di amore universale che non poteva far altro che entrare a far parte della cultura della comunità LGBTQ+: “Don't be a drag, just be a queen / Whether you're broke or evergreen / You're black, white, beige, chola descent / You're Lebanese, you're Orient / Whether life's disabilities / Left you outcast, bullied, or teased / Rejoice and love yourself today / ‘Cause baby you were born this way / No matter gay, straight, or bi / Lesbian, transgendered life / I’m on the right track baby / I was born to survive / No matter black, white or beige / Chola or orient made / I’m on the right track baby / I was born to be brave”.
