Dopo Malta nel 2021 e il Lussemburgo l'anno scorso, la Germania è da oggi, 1 aprile 2024, il più grande Paese dell'Ue a legalizzare l'uso ricreativo della cannabis, con una riforma che ha suscitato tante aspettative quanto timori

Si dovranno però aspettare altri tre mesi prima di poter acquistare legalmente il prodotto attraverso un "Cannabis SocialClub". Tali associazioni senza scopo di lucro potranno vendere ai loro membri un massimo di 25 grammi al giorno e non più di 50 grammi al mese

Il testo della legge era stato però oggetto di dissensi all'interno del governo tripartito. Una certa resistenza era apparsa fra i socialdemocratici (Spd, ossia il partito del cancelliere), mentre i Verdi e i liberali dell'Fdp si erano mostrati piuttosto favorevoli
