Il mega portacontainer era fermo dal 23 marzo e, nel corso dei giorni, circa 400 navi sono rimaste bloccate. Le autorità del canale hanno annunciato che tutto è stato risolto e l'imbarcazione ora "naviga con i propri motori a una velocità di 1,5 nodi"

L'ammiraglio Osama Rabie, il capo dell'Authority del Canale di Suez, stamattina aveva previsto che la nave, una volta rimessa in navigazione, sarebbe stata condotta in questa zona detta anche "dei laghi" per essere sottoposta a "una revisione tecnica". Poi ha previsto che ci vorranno "tre e giorni e mezzo" per smaltire l'ingorgo di circa 400 navi che vogliono sfruttare lo stretto che collega Europa e Asia evitando di dover perdere 10-14 giorni e centinaia di migliaia di dollari in più per fare i 5.000 km del periplo dell'Africa

La nave ha una lunghezza di 400 metri e una larghezza di 59 ed è un portacontainer da "224 mila tonnellate”. Per disincagliarlo sono stati utilizzati numerosi messi e svolti vari tentativi

Per poter rimettere in navgazione la Ever Given sono stati usati 16 rimorchiatori, tra cui il Baraka 1 con una capacità di trazione di 160 tonnellate
