Almeno altre tre persone sono state uccise a Grenada, colpita lunedì, cosi' come una a Saint Vincent e Grenadine. "Venti devastanti, mareggiate potenzialmente fatali e onde distruttive sono attesi oggi nelle aree della Giamaica e delle Isole Cayman durante il giorno e la sera", ha avvertito l'Nhc nel suo bollettino, rilevando che l'uragano è accompagnato daventi che soffiano a 250 km/h

HA INIZIATO A INDEBOLIRSI

"La buona notizia è che Beryl ha iniziato a indebolirsi un po'", ha commentato il direttore dell'Nhc Michael Brennan, definendo l'uragano "estremamente pericoloso". Il primo ministro giamaicano Andrew Holness ha invitato in particolare "tutti i giamaicani a fare scorta di cibo, batterie, candele e acqua", a riporre i loro "documenti essenziali in un luogo sicuro". Beryl colpirà anche il sud di Haiti e raggiungerà indebolito, la penisola dello Yucatan, in Messico, giovedì sera. Si tratta del primo uragano della stagione nell'Atlantico. Un fenomeno climatico di questa portata è estremamente raro all'inizio della stagione degli uragani, che negli Stati Uniti va dall'inizio di giugno alla fine di novembre
