Sempre Ukrinform, citando il consigliere del sindaco di Mariupol, Petro Andryushchenko, aveva parlato di un attacco non solo dal cielo e con l'artiglieria ma anche con i carri armati russi all'acciaieria e sul fatto che era divampato un incendio nel sito.

Intanto, "ci sono ancora molte persone rimaste ad Azovstal e continuiamo a negoziare per farle uscire da lì", ha dichiarato oggi alla Bbc il vice ministro della Difesa ucraino, Hanna Maliar, affermando che l'operazione di salvataggio sarà conclusa solo quando tutti i difensori di Mariupol saranno stati evacuati nei territori sotto il controllo ucraino. Per Maliar, gli appelli dei politici di Mosca a processare per crimini di guerra alcune delle persone prelevate dalle acciaierie "sono stati fatti molto probabilmente per la propaganda interna della Russia"

Nelle scorse ore il consiglio comunale di Mariupol ha diffuso un video dei combattenti fuori dall'impianto, controllati dai russi prima di salire su alcuni autobus. Di loro, 53 feriti gravi sono stati trasferiti in una struttura sanitaria a Novoazovsk. Gli altri 211 sono stati portati via attraverso un corridoio umanitario a Olenivka. Entrambe le zone sotto il controllo dei separatisti filo-russi

E sulle cifre, il ministero della Difesa russo ha annunciato oggi che 959 soldati ucraini asserragliati nell'acciaieria Azovstal di Mariupol si sono arresi da lunedì. Nello specifico, "nelle ultime 24 ore, 694 combattenti, di cui 29 feriti, si sono arresi. Dal 16 maggio, 959 combattenti, di cui 80 feriti, si sono arresi"
