In Cina, da oggi sino al 22 ottobre si tiene, a Pechino, il ventesimo Congresso del Partito Comunista Cinese. Parte dell'intervento di apertura del presidente cinese, Xi Jinping, si è concentrato su Taiwan: la riunificazione "della patria ci sarà e sarà sicuramente realizzata", ha detto. E ha poi aggiunto: "Abbiamo dimostrato grande capacità contro l'indipendenza di Taiwan"

Il presidente cinese ha poi chiuso il discorso di apertura al XX congresso del Partito comunista con un appello all'unità. "Manteniamo la ferma fiducia, restiamo uniti come una sola persona e andiamo avanti con determinazione", ha affermato il presidente ribadendo ancora una volta il concetto dell'unità, di fondamentale importanza per "costruire un Paese socialista e moderno in tutti gli aspetti e far avanzare il ringiovanimento nazionale su tutti i fronti"

Durante il congresso 2.300 delegati provenienti da tutto il Paese eleggono il nuovo comitato centrale composto da circa 200 membri effettivi e 170 supplenti, cioè senza diritto di voto. Una volta costituito, il nuovo comitato centrale elegge il Politburo (25 membri), il comitato permanente del Politburo di sette membri e il segretario del Partito, cioè la carica suprema (in foto, gli agricoltori dello Shandong compongono con il grano la scritta "XX Congresso del Partito Comunista cinese")

Al termine del Congresso, in data 23 ottobre, avverrà il ricambio della classe dirigente del Partito comunista, che però non toccherà Xi Jinping: per lui è previsto un finora inedito terzo mandato da segretario generale del partito, che significa restare in carica anche come presidente della Repubblica

UN NUOVO PREMIER – Per un presidente (e segretario generale) che resta, c’è un premier che va. È quasi certo che Li Keqiang, numero due del partito e premier, non sarà confermato, anche per volontà dello stesso interessato che ha dichiarato di essere arrivato a 67 anni alla fine della sua carriera politica pubblica (potrebbe restare ancora nei quadri del partito). Al suo posto sembra essere in pole Wang Yang (67 anni), attualmente il numero quattro della gerarchia, che ha la fama di essere attento allo sviluppo economico e alle esigenze delle imprese private
