epa08490585 A Lion's Mane jellyfish, approximately 11 inches (28 cm) in size, is seen on the beach at Nahant Beach in Nahant, Massachusetts, USA, 17 June 2020. The lion's mane, or hair jelly, is the largest known species of jellyfish and the largest specimen was found off the coast of Massachusetts in 1865 and had a bell of 7 feet (210 cm) and tentacles that reached 120 feet (36.6m). The sting can be painful to humans so the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is warning the public to stay clear with the upcoming start of summer and wave of warm weather.
