Un ritorno a sorpresa quello di Drake, che ha lanciato nei giorni scorsi la sua nuova hit “Toosie Slide”. Il brano, primo nuovo pezzo dopo il successo dell’album “Scorpion” nel 2018, era comparso a fine marzo sull’account delle star di Tik Tok Ayo & Teo, facendo subito schizzare la popolarità del brano alle stelle. Gli utenti, infatti, si sono divertiti a provare a riprodurre la coreografia seguendo le indicazioni dei passi che vengono dati nel ritornello. Il 3 aprile, poi, è seguito su YouTube il lancio del video ufficiale, diretto da Theo Skudra, che mostra Drake coperto, a causa dell’emergenza del coronavirus, da guanti e passamontagna ballare sul brano ripetendo la sequenza di passi del ritornello, all’interno di una villa. Il video in meno di due settimane è già schizzato oltre le 31 milioni di visualizzazioni.
Con “Toosie Slide” Drake entra nella storia
In America, “Toosie Slide” ha debuttato direttamente alla numero 1 della Billboard Hot 100, scalzando “Blinding Lighs” dei The Weeknd e diventando il terzo singolo di Drake a entrare in classifica direttamente in vetta: gli altri due erano stati “God’s Plan” e “Nice For What”, entrambi nel suo anno di grazia, il 2018. È il primo artista maschile a riuscire nell’impresa, il secondo dopo Mariah Carey che aveva centrato l’impresa tra il 1995 e il 1997 con “Fantasy”, “One Sweet Day” e “Honey”. Drake si è messo alle spalle Britney Spears, Justin Bieber e Ariana Grande, tutti fermi a due brani entrati direttamente in vetta alla Top 100 di Billboard. In totale, è il settimo singolo che Drake porta alla numero 1 e la 50° settimana in vetta alla classifica dei singoli, quarto di tutti i tempi dietro a Mariah Carey (82 settimane), Rihanna (60) e Beatles (59).
